Sunder

Sunder is designed to give artists direct control over how structures fracture and collapse. Import an FBX, choose a fracture style, generate primary and secondary fragments, and define how those pieces are bonded together. Materials, glue strength, foundation support, collision response, and localized impact damage can all be adjusted without leaving the application.

Destruction can be performed interactively using click impacts or directed through gravity-collapse modes. Artists can protect parts of a fractured model by assigning them as rigid, making it possible to create localized damage such as holes in walls while the surrounding structure remains securely in place.

Simulations can be recorded, baked into a deterministic timeline, trimmed, previewed, and exported. Sunder supports rigid-piece animated FBX for applications such as 3ds Max, alongside a dedicated Vertex Animation Texture pipeline for bringing high-detail destruction into Unreal Engine.

Sunder is being created by Paul Goad, a veteran game artist and art director with nearly 30 years of experience on projects including Need for Speed, Luigi’s Mansion, Age of Empires IV, and Squad. The project continues his passion for experimentation, world-building, and developing tools that help artists create more compelling experiences.
