Introducing Run For Hope: One Shared Journey Across Canada
October 17, 2026

Together, we keep Terry running
Terry Fox’s determination continues to inspire people to take action, however small that first step might be. With Run For Hope, we wanted to create a place where people could come together around that idea—and see their collective effort moving forward.
Run For Hope is an interactive experience built around a shared virtual journey across Canada. Terry travels through a miniature landscape, while visitors contribute the distance that keeps him running. Everyone helps the same journey advance, one stretch of road at a time.
The experience is live and in development, and we’re continuing to shape both the world and the ways people can participate.
A small action becomes part of something bigger
Helping starts with a button. Once a day, visitors can add 100 metres to Terry’s available running distance. They can include their name or contribute anonymously, becoming part of the community carrying the journey forward.
Sharing gives that support somewhere to grow. Each visitor can copy a personal invitation link and send it to a friend or post it on social media. When a new visitor arrives through that link and helps for the first time, an invitation bonus adds more distance.
The loop is simple:
- Help Terry run through your daily contribution.
- Share your invitation link.
- Bring someone new into the journey.
- Return to see how far the community has travelled.
Every contribution adds to the same shared progress. Whether you visit for a moment or keep the experience open beside you, you’re watching a journey shaped by everyone taking part.

Canada, on a tiny planet
We’ve built the experience around a small, curved world that reveals the road ahead as Terry moves. The virtual route stretches from St. John’s to Victoria, passing through changing regional scenery.
Trees fill the far side of the road. Vehicles pass through the scene, Canadian flags wave in the background, and roadside signs welcome Terry to towns along the route. Lighting and weather change the atmosphere, giving familiar scenery a different character as the journey continues.
There’s room for quiet moments, too. When the available distance runs out, Terry rests. A new contribution gets him moving again, making the connection between community support and his next steps visible.

Leave a thought. Choose a shirt. Make a connection.
Distance is only one way visitors can become part of the experience. You can leave a thought for someone else to discover, adding a small human moment to the landscape.
You can also click or tap Terry to choose from ten shirt designs. Your selection is remembered on your device, giving you a familiar Terry to return to as the shared journey moves on.
These details help make Run For Hope a place worth revisiting: somewhere to check the progress, read a message, invite a friend, and contribute another stretch of road.
Join the journey
Run For Hope is available now in your browser, on desktop and mobile. We’ll continue improving the animation, scenery, and experience as development progresses.
Come see where Terry is today. Add your 100 metres, bring someone along, and help us keep the journey moving.
